Mataró is a cozy café tucked into Prenzlauer Berg’s Wörther Strasse that caters to serious coffee aficionados and casual visitors alike. The café’s appeal lies in its focus on quality and a warm, inviting atmosphere, where the owner’s personal touch is evident not only in the coffee but also in the homemade cakes and pastries on offer.

Locals seem to appreciate Mataró as a relaxed spot for both a morning espresso macchiato or a more leisurely afternoon cappuccino latte, paired with freshly baked treats like croissants, pastel de nata, and cheesecake varieties including a notably praised mango cheesecake. The café’s vibe is unpretentious—perfect for a quiet moment alone or a low-key catch-up with friends.

The interior fosters a sense of welcome, with friendly staff who make an effort to connect with regulars and newcomers alike, creating a spot that feels more neighborhood hub than just a coffee stop. The attention to detail in pastry presentation and the freshness of the offerings hint at the owner’s hands-on involvement, making the experience feel crafted rather than commercial.

While there’s no outdoor seating to soak in the typical Berlin street buzz, Mataró's cozy indoor space makes it ideal for the chillier months when comfort and warm hospitality are priorities. Given the generally steady presence of coffee lovers who appreciate good beans and a genuine atmosphere, visiting during weekday mornings or early afternoons should provide a peaceful environment without the rush.

Overall, Mataró stands out as a café for those who want quality coffee paired with thoughtfully prepared pastries in a setting where the personal touch really counts. It suits anyone looking for a calm corner in Prenzlauer Berg, whether they come alone to work or meet friends for a casual, enjoyable coffee break.

Absolutely lovely place with a cosy atmosphere and friendly service! The owner was welcoming and attentive :) We had the gözleme with pastırma, the pistachio croissant, and the cinnamon roll. All were fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. Can’t wait to visit again!

This is the loveliest little cafe. On a nice quiet street. Staff are lovely. Coffee is so delicious. And the banana bread and pastries look incredible (I'll be back). What an absolute gem! Don't hesitate to go here for a calm and serene Sunday read.

Finally I’ve found it. The best coffee place in Prenzlauer Berg. For coffee enthusiasts like me, they serve 100% Arabica - delicious. The prices are extremely affordable, 2€ for Cortado! What makes it special is the super friendly and welcoming owner. Will definitely come back to try his carrot cake Highly recommend!
